Job Summary

The Assistant Restaurant Manager will assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Restaurant assigned to them. They will work closely with the Culinary and Beverage teams to ensure One&Only service standards exceed the experience of the guest. They will strive to continually improve guest and colleague satisfaction and maximize financial performance in areas of responsibility. They will work with the FB Leadership team to establish training and implement plans that will help the team exceed the departmental goals like LQA Scores, meeting budget and ensure a good working environment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

•    Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate and coach, colleagues to ensure that core standards are met
•    Manage labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control while focusing on creative revenue generation solutions to maximize profit
•    The ability to be visible in the operation, recognize, nurture and maintain relationships with regular guests as well as cultivate relationships with new patrons to ultimately increase loyalty as a key business driver
•    Excellent food and beverage product knowledge spanning all areas
•    Learns and explains Food and Beverage Menu and Daily Features to guests and service staff
•    Participate in planning, organizing and executing of the Restaurants Marketing Plans and its events
•    Communicate with colleagues to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments
•    Communicates to Chef and Restaurant Manager any issues regarding food quality and service levels
•    Assists in ensuring compliance with all restaurant policies, standards and procedures with Food Handlers and TIPS Certifications
•    Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
•    Supervises staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met
•    Works on training and ongoing training of all service staff
•    Conduct regular walkthrough of the outlet and suggest recommendations for change as well as note deficiencies and ensure corrective action is taken
•    Creates total awareness of in-house VIPs and reviews names with staff members during pre-service meetings
•    To assist with any other duties that are required by the Restaurant Manager, Director of Food and Beverage or another member of the Hotel management team

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements 

•    At least 2 years’ experience at a similar level.
•    Excellent Communication skills 
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience in a restaurant with recognized high standards.
•    Workplace training from within a high standard hotel environment.
•    Experience in 5*, an upmarket resort would be an advantage but not a requirement.

The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:   

  • Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods 
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling 
  • Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds 
  • Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
