Job Summary

 

The Cosmetologist provides a full range of hair and nail services for both men and women, as outlined in the Spa & Colleague Salon service menu, while promoting the overall philosophy and elevated offerings of the Spa. This role includes expert cutting, styling, grooming, manicures, and pedicures—delivered with consistency, professionalism, and attention to detail. The Cosmetologist is responsible for servicing VIP guests, media, and press visits, driving revenue through service excellence, and actively contributing to retail sales targets. In addition to guest-facing responsibilities, the Cosmetologist supports the Spa Manager and Director in maintaining the smooth daily operation of the salon, upholding service standards, ensuring cleanliness, and fostering positive team morale. This individual may also assist in onboarding new team members and providing ongoing training to maintain brand standards across all hair and nail offerings.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities
•    Deliver a full range of premium hair and nail services for men and women, including cutting, styling, grooming, manicures, and pedicures, as outlined in the spa and colleague salon service menu.
•    Greet guests warmly and provide a seamless luxury experience, including VIPs, media, and press visits, ensuring personalized service and five-star presentation.
•    Arrive on time in full uniform, groomed to One&Only brand standards, and maintain a polished, professional appearance at all times.
•    Review and confirm daily bookings via Spa Software to ensure preparedness and accuracy before each shift.
•    Maintain salon hygiene and safety standards, including sanitation of tools, equipment, and workstations before and after every guest.
•    Complete daily opening and closing duties, monitor product usage, and report maintenance issues to the Duty Manager promptly.
•    Adapt to last-minute booking changes and read guest profiles in advance to personalize and elevate service delivery.
•    Apply all professional products according to manufacturer guidelines, maintaining quality, consistency, and sustainability standards.
•    Promote spa and salon treatments, retail products, and current promotions, meeting or exceeding personal and departmental sales goals.
•    Stay current on industry trends, techniques, and product innovation, and proactively recommend service updates or enhancements.
•    Support team morale by mentoring new team members and conducting training in hair services and product standards as needed.
•    Assist guests in the salon lounge by offering refreshments, reading materials, and personalized attention while they wait.
•    Manage and resolve guest feedback professionally, following service recovery protocols and promptly notifying the Duty Manager when needed.
•    Participate in spa tours, weekly cocktail receptions, and promotional events to increase service visibility and guest engagement.
•    Support operational budget goals by monitoring supply usage and contributing to overall salon profitability through upselling and efficiency.
•    Demonstrate commitment to safety and compliance by following all health, hygiene, emergency, and fire protocols, including chemical handling procedures.
•    Attend and participate in briefings, team meetings, and mandatory training sessions to stay aligned with resort updates and performance expectations.
•    Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere by maintaining open communication with colleagues and management, and upholding resort policies.
•    Perform additional duties as assigned to support spa and salon operations, contributing flexibly to a successful and collaborative team environment.

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements 
•    Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a strong asset.
•    Completed 2,000 hours of cosmetology training at a state-accredited institution and holds a valid state-issued license or equivalent transfer.
•    At least four years of professional experience in hairdressing, with advanced expertise in cutting, trimming, styling (including accessories and special occasion looks), hair treatments, extensions/volumizing, men’s grooming, and nail services.
•    Minimum of three years’ experience in a high-quality, reputable salon environment.
•    Delivers outstanding customer service with a warm, engaging, and professional demeanor.
•    Highly skilled and creative, with a strong understanding of current hair and fashion trends.
•    Displays a positive, proactive approach with excellent verbal communication skills.
•    Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations within the cosmetology and barbering fields.
•    Background in sales and marketing, with the ability to promote products and services effectively.
•    Strong administrative capabilities with keen attention to detail, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized work area.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive guest relations.
•    Experienced in resolving guest concerns with professionalism and care.
•    Technologically proficient with Microsoft Office, spa management systems (e.g., SpaSoft), and Opera PMS.
•    Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:   

  • Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods 
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling 
  • Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds 
  • Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
