Job Summary

The Director of Finance oversees the day-to-day operation of the Accounting & Purchasing Departments, accompanied by communication and coordination with all other Resort’s teams. The Director of Finance will be responsible of labor meetings, budgets, forecast meetings, ownership meetings and other resort activities.  

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate preparation of financial statements, accruals and journal entries, reconciliations of balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Develop all policies pertinent to the Finance operation, formulate direction and strategy
  • Present and explain variances to financial objectives to the General Manager, Owners and relevant Department Heads in a clear and concise manner with recommendations for future corrective action
  • Practice effective cash flow management and communicate all significant cash flows to global support on a regular basis
  • Coordinate and oversee all external and internal audits
  • Monitor and control expenses of the hotel, paying special attention to the daily reporting of the auditor and addressing issues that have material effect and/or impact guest experience
  • In conjunction with the General Manager, the Director, Finance is responsible for compliance with: relevant contractual and legal obligations, Kerzner International Finance Policies, the Resort Management Contract, all other Kerzner and One&Only Moonlight Basin Policies
  • Personally build clear and open lines of communication with all departments
  • Understand and abide by all Government laws relating to the Finance department
  • Be actively involved in maintaining all Kerzner International programs relating to finance
  • Monitor and control all financial aspects of the business including the preparation of the annual business plan
  • Implement and monitor programs to maintain the condition of resort assets
  • Actively monitor all the third party contracting with One&Only Moonlight Basin; negotiate the terms and conditions in favor of resort
  • Analyze and evaluate all CAPEX project requirements and send for approval to global support
  • Create an environment that trains, develops, coaches and mentor’s colleagues
  • Prepare performance reviews and development plans, taking appropriate personnel-related action (i.e., hire, commend, discipline, evaluate, etc.) with Accounting staff as required
  • Conduct weekly SMART Plan review with all direct reports to ensure follows up to achieve the agreed goals & objectives
  • Deliver a monthly report on Key issues, developments, outstanding works, and personal and financial concerns to GM and cc EXCOM
  • Undertake additional duties as requested by the General Manager or Area Director of Finance

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar, executive committee capacity in a luxury resort environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance related field
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop colleagues to progress into higher positions
  • Be innovative, financially savvy, connect emotionally with guests and internal customers
  • Must be highly organized and able to effectively work on multiple projects at once
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, write and understand the English language
