Job Summary  

A host/hostess greets customers as they enter a restaurant, takes their reservation or puts them on a waiting list, gives them menus, and escorts them to their seat. They also handle phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and menu and assist various restaurant staff when necessary. They will work closely with the Culinary and Beverage teams to ensure One&Only service standards exceed the expectations of the guests. 

  
Key Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Greeting guests as they enter and putting them on a waiting list as necessary 

  • Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions 

  • Seating guests at tables or in waiting areas 

  • Assigning guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers 

  • Engaging with guests to ensure they're happy with food and service 

  • Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them 

  • Answering phone calls, taking reservations, and answering questions 

  • A knowledge of the menu 

  • Helping with other positions in the restaurant as needed 

  • Providing great customer service 

  • To assist with any other duties that are required by members of the management team 

  

Skills, Experience, & Educational Requirements   

  • At least 2 years’ experience  

  • Workplace training from within a high-standard hotel environment 

  • Knowledge of catering operations and beverage practices within the catering industry 

  • Excellent communication skills   

  • Experience in 5*, luxury resort is preferred 

  • Montana state approved TIPS certification

  • Food Handler's certification

Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:   

  • Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods 
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling 
  • Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds 
  • Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
