Job Summary

 

The Massage Lead/Supervisor is responsible for delivering exceptional massage and spa treatments while providing leadership and guidance to the therapist team. This role ensures the highest level of professionalism, personalized care, and hospitality, actively upholding the company’s vision, mission, and values to enhance the guest experience.

 

In addition to providing expert therapeutic bodywork, including relaxation, recovery, and energizing therapies—you will serve as a mentor to fellow therapists, assisting with training, technique development, and adherence to brand standards. You will help maintain service excellence by ensuring treatment protocols, cleanliness, and professional grooming standards are consistently met.

 

This position plays a key role in driving revenue by promoting retail sales, upselling services, and supporting team members in achieving performance goals. You will also assist the leadership team in overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with spa policies, and maintaining seamless communication between the team and management. Your leadership will contribute to a collaborative, high-performing spa environment focused on guest satisfaction and wellness innovation.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

Leadership & Team Support
•    Mentor and train massage therapists to uphold service excellence and brand standards.
•    Assist in onboarding new team members, demonstrating techniques and protocols.
•    Act as a liaison between therapists and management, addressing concerns and fostering communication.
•    Motivate and support the team, ensuring professionalism and adherence to spa policies.

 

Guest Experience & Service Excellence
•    Perform expert-level massage and bodywork treatments, tailoring each session to guest needs.
•    Maintain the highest hygiene, sanitation, and professional grooming standards.
•    Provide five-star service to all guests, including VIPs, journalists, and media representatives.
•    Conduct thorough client consultations, recording preferences and medical history while maintaining strict confidentiality.
•    Enhance guest satisfaction by recommending ongoing treatment programs and personalized wellness solutions.

 

Operations & Compliance
•    Ensure therapists follow all spa protocols, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
•    Maintain fully stocked, clean, and organized treatment rooms, reporting maintenance issues promptly.
•    Support scheduling, inventory control, and product orders in collaboration with spa leadership.
•    Follow proper opening and closing procedures and assist in maintaining the overall spa environment.
•    Attend health, safety, and hygiene training, ensuring compliance with all regulations.

 

Sales & Revenue Growth
•    Achieve retail sales targets set by the Director through effective product recommendations.
•    Educate guests on at-home wellness products and encourage cross-selling of spa services.
•    Stay informed about spa treatments, packages, and promotions to optimize sales opportunities.
•    Participate in spa demonstrations and engagement activities to attract and retain guests.

 

Problem-Solving & Guest Relations
•    Address guest concerns promptly and assist with service recovery situations.
•    Record and report guest feedback to management, continuously improving the guest experience.
•    Maintain a warm, professional demeanor while ensuring seamless communication with colleagues.
•    Support spa reception and attendant teams as needed to uphold service standards.

 

Professional Development & Engagement
•    Maintain expertise in treatments, products, and industry trends through ongoing education.
•    Attend required training courses and stay updated on brand standards.
•    Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and participate in guest engagement activities during slower periods.
•    Represent the spa and hotel as an ambassador in all interactions.

 

Additional Responsibilities
•    Support all spa departments, covering reception and spa attendant duties when required.
•    Assist the management in administrative tasks such as training records and attendance tracking.
•    Perform additional duties as assigned by management to enhance the overall spa experience.

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements 
•    Proficient in both written and spoken English; fluency in additional languages is highly advantageous.
•    Successfully completed 500 hours of massage training at a state-approved institution, holding a valid state-issued license or a transferred equivalent.
•    Possess a minimum of five years of professional experience in the massage therapy field.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
•    Expertise in utilizing a wide range of massage tools and equipment.
•    Proficient in a wide range of massage techniques, including relaxation, deep tissue (up to 5 hours consecutively), sports massage, hot/Himalayan stone massage, prenatal, reflexology, neuromuscular therapy, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, Thai massage, aromatherapy, couples massage, cupping, body scrubs, and body wraps.
•    Proven experience in luxury, five-star resorts or spas for at least three years.
•    Extensive understanding of massage therapies and diverse face and body treatments.
•    Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
•    Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
•    Positive and proactive approach with dedication to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
•    Skilled in resolving guest concerns professionally and effectively.
•    Must demonstrate adaptability to operational needs and flexibility with business demands as we build a strong foundation.
•    Strong leadership capabilities, including experience in training and mentoring fellow therapists.
•    Proficient in using standard office equipment.
•    Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
