Job Summary
The Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering exceptional massage and spa treatments with the highest level of professionalism, personalized care, and hospitality. This role actively upholds the company’s vision, mission, and values while enhancing the guest experience.
You will provide expert therapeutic bodywork for guests, VIPs, and media representatives, demonstrating proficiency in various techniques, including relaxation, recovery, and energizing therapies. All treatments will adhere to hotel brand standards, ensuring superior client care, cleanliness, and personal grooming. A deep understanding of products and service protocols will allow you to customize wellness solutions tailored to individual guest needs.
In addition to treatment delivery, you will drive revenue growth by promoting retail sales, upselling, and cross-selling spa services. You will also support the Head or Principal Therapist in maintaining compliance with operational procedures, codes of conduct, and service excellence standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve retail sales targets set by the Director.
- Provide aftercare recommendations that align with client concerns and prepare products for purchase at reception.
- Encourage repeat visits by recommending ongoing treatment programs and cross-selling spa services.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of all treatments, packages, and promotions.
- Participate in demonstrations and events as needed.
- Assist the Head/Principal Therapist in providing motivation and training.
- Perform treatments for VIPs and journalists at the highest standard, representing the spa and hotel as an ambassador.
- Support the Head/Principal Therapist with scheduling, stock control, inventory, and orders.
- Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and hygiene of all equipment, products, and linens, following protocols and LSOPs.
- Lead by example in professionalism and service standards.
- Motivate therapists and report on team dynamics and morale.
- Continuously enhance the guest experience with personalized, five-star service touches.
- Record all training sessions and manage attendance tracking.
- Stay informed about daily bookings and schedule changes, updating as needed.
- Perform treatments with exceptional quality, following protocols while tailoring to client needs.
- Regularly update personal knowledge of products and treatment brand standards.
- Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to identify medical history and concerns.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all guest interactions.
- Ensure treatment rooms are fully stocked, clean, and organized.
- Follow proper opening and closing procedures, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Provide a warm, professional welcome to guests and maintain outstanding service.
- Record guest preferences and communicate relevant details to colleagues.
- Report guest complaints to the Duty Manager for timely resolution.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and professionalism in all treatments.
- Take responsibility for the upkeep of equipment, products, and cleanliness in treatment areas.
- Attend training on health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Ensure the safety of guests and colleagues by adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist spa attendants and receptionists as needed to uphold spa cleanliness and service standards.
- Maintain a professional appearance and be punctual at all times.
- Support all spa departments, including covering reception and spa attendant duties when required.
- Follow training guidelines set by the Head/Principal Therapist and attend necessary courses by Kerzner International.
- Demonstrate eagerness to learn and adapt to an evolving environment.
- Be flexible with scheduling and participate in guest engagement activities during slower periods, such as complimentary teaser foot massages at pool, hand treatments, and tours.
- Perform additional duties as required by management.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
- Proficient in both written and spoken English; fluency in additional languages is highly advantageous.
- Successfully completed 500 hours of massage training at a state-approved institution, holding a valid state-issued license or a transferred equivalent.
- Possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in the massage therapy field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- Expertise in utilizing a wide range of massage tools and equipment.
- Proficient in a wide range of massage techniques, including relaxation, deep tissue (up to 5 hours consecutively), sports massage, hot/Himalayan stone massage, prenatal, reflexology, neuromuscular therapy, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, Thai massage, aromatherapy, couples massage, cupping, body scrubs, and body wraps.
- Proven experience in luxury, five-star resorts or spas for at least two years.
- Extensive understanding of massage therapies and diverse face and body treatments.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
- Positive and proactive approach with a dedication to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
- Skilled in resolving guest concerns professionally and effectively.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including experience in training and mentoring fellow therapists.
- Must demonstrate adaptability to operational needs and flexibility with business demands as we build a strong foundation.
- Proficient in using standard office equipment.
- Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
