Job Summary
The Ski Tuner provides professional, personalized, and guest-focused service to create memorable experiences for all guests. They will ensure all rental equipment is properly inspected, tuned, repaired, and prepared for use while assisting guests with equipment selections, fittings, and adjustments.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect, tune, repair, and prepare skis and snowboards to ensure equipment is safe, performing properly in a variety of snow conditions
- Perform daily ski and snowboard tuning services, including waxing, sharpening, edge maintenance, base repair, and other required adjustments
- Provide guests with basic guidance on the care, use, and performance of equipment
- Assist guests with the selection of appropriate skis, snowboards, boots, poles, and other winter gear based on their size, ability, and intended use while maximizing comfort, safety, and performance
- Verify ski bindings in accordance with established manufacturer specifications and procedures
- Review rental equipment thoroughly for wear, damage, and any other concerns, removing equipment from service when necessary
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ski tuning machinery
- Maintain accurate rental inventory, tuning logs, and equipment maintenance records
- Remain informed on current mountain conditions, using this knowledge to provide appropriate recommendations
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Recreation & Leisure or other members of management

At least 1 year of experience in a ski shop, ski rental operation, or winter sports environment required
- Previous experience operating Wintersteiger ski and snowboard tuning equipment (or similar) is strongly preferred
- Proven experience tuning and maintaining alpine skis and snowboards, including base repair, edge sharpening, waxing, and polishing is highly advantageous
- Prior experience within a mountain resort setting with operational knowledge (especially of Big Sky) is a plus

Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling
- Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds
- Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
