Job Summary
The Steward is responsible for maintaining the smooth and efficient operations of the cleaning department, ensuring that all duties are executed according to the standards laid down by the Chief Steward.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Accurately follows the instructions and routines for the cleaning of all areas within their designated work area. This includes the use of correct chemicals, tools, and cleaning methods

Ensures all cleaning materials and chemicals are collected from storage prior to proceeding to their designated work area

Inspects equipment fully to ensure the correct and efficient working condition of the equipment, as well as to check whether the correct chemicals are being used

Ensures all washing temperatures, as well as the recycling of dish water, are maintained according to procedures directed by the Chief Steward

Ensures correct handling and storage procedures are followed with all operating equipment to minimize damages and losses

Ensures familiarity with and training of the operations of all electrical equipment to avoid accident or injury to them or to their colleagues

Follows polishing procedures when cleaning silver, copper, brass, gold, or any other metal items correctly to avoid damage to or loss of items

Ensures all food safety standards are followed to the fullest

Maintains accurate records as required by the Chief Steward about their designated work area

Assists with any other duties as required by the Line Manager or other members of the management team
Skills, Experience, & Educational Requirements

Prior experience in a kitchen setting is helpful, though relevant training will be provided

A minimum of 1 year within a stewarding or cleaning role is an advantage

Understanding of Health and Safety procedures and chemical usage is an advantage

A strong knowledge of all hotel facilities, their services, and working hours

Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently

Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and managers

Must always maintain positive attitude

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts
