Job Summary 

To maintain the smooth and efficient operations of the cleaning department and ensure that all duties are executed in accordance to the standards laid down by the Chief Steward. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Accurately follow the instructions and routines for the cleaning of all areas within your designated area, this includes the use of the correct chemicals, tools and cleaning methods 

  • Inspect equipment fully to ensure the correct and efficient working condition of the equipment and that the correct chemicals are being used at all times 

  • Ensure all necessary cleaning materials and chemicals are collected from Stewarding Stores prior to proceeding to your designated area of work  

  • Ensure that all washing temperatures and recycling of dish water are being maintained in accordance to the procedures as directed by the Chief Steward 

  • Ensure correct handling and storage procedures are followed with all operating equipment to minimize breakages and stock losses 

  • Correctly follow polishing procedures when cleaning silver, copper, brass, gold or any other metal items to avoid damage to or loss of items 

  • Ensure familiarity with and fully trained on the operation of all electrical equipment to avoid accident or injury to you or your colleagues  

  • Keep accurate records as required by the Chief Steward within your area of work 

  • Ensure all Food Safety standards are followed to the fullest 

  • Assist with any other duties as required by the line manager or another member of the management team. 

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements  

  • Previous experience in a kitchen setting is helpful; relevant training will be provided 

  • Understanding of Health and Safety procedures, chemical usage and a minimum of 1 year within a stewarding or cleaning role is an advantage 

  • Must be able to speak, read and write the English language proficiently 

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and managers 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays, and night shift 

  • Strong knowledge of all Hotel facilities, their service and working hours 

  • Mantain positive attitude at all times
