Job Summary
The Activities Guide is a One&Only Moonlight Basin position requiring outdoor teaching and facilitation experience, as well as the personality and ability to relate to and build trust with Moonlight Basin members, families, and guests in a safe and fun learning environment. Guides will facilitate guest activities such as archery, mountain biking, hiking, and fly fishing.
This position will be approximately 80% outdoors and 20% indoors. Work hours will typically be between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM, depending on the activity.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Guiding:
- Plan, organize, and provide safe, fun, and professional instruction on One&Only Moonlight Basin property.
- Meet and greet clients on time with a professional attitude and appearance.
- Assess member/guest skills and tailor sessions appropriately based on ability, goals, and environmental conditions.
- Conduct lessons and guided experiences with safety as the top priority in a mountain environment.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Inspect, repair, and maintain all equipment associated with archery, mountain biking, fly fishing, and hiking.
- Use inspection sheets to assess all equipment for safety prior to each use.
- Report problems with any equipment to the manager, or report concerns if unsure about equipment safety.
Facility Maintenance:
- Help maintain all spaces related to guided activities, including storage areas, food storage areas, and outdoor teaching areas, including daily trash and recycling management.
- Maintain rental equipment, vehicle cleanliness, and all facilities and equipment that support the outfitter guide program.
- Maintain a high standard of organization in all tool and equipment areas.
Perform additional duties as required by Recreation & Leisure management or other members of management.
Skills, Experience, & Educational Requirements
- Experience with customer service.
- Experience facilitating outdoor activities in a mountain environment.
- Resourcefulness, good judgment, and self-confidence.
- A professional, positive, and courteous demeanor.
- Effective verbal communication skills with individuals of varying ages and skill levels.
- Ability to initiate work activities, seek responsibility, and make daily efforts to improve knowledge and skills.
Certifications & Training
- Adult, infant, and child CPR certification required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Outdoor activity facilitation experience in activities such as archery, mountain biking, hiking, and fly fishing.
- Willingness to participate in all training and educational clinics.
- Ability to read and understand all safety policies and guidelines.

Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling
- Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds
- Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
- Ability to bend at the waist, twist the upper body, kneel, crawl, climb, reach above shoulders, and flex and extend ankle, knee, and hip joints, or perform other physical movements associated with hiking, biking, climbing, driving, floating, and archery.
- Ability to work outdoors for 8–10 hours per day in all weather conditions commonly found in southwest Montana.
- Ability to use various hand tools and non-motorized equipment to assist in maintaining trails, trail signage, and activity equipment.
