Job Summary

Director, Water Quality oversees all maintenance activities in regards to aquariums, mammal enclosures, swimming pools, water park, spa and water features across Atlantis the Palm, Aquaventure world and Atlantis The Royal. Overseeing all operational aspects to ensure that all operations follow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Responsible for leading the Water Quality team and future planning of resort facilities; establishes procedures for maintenance, repair and/or replacement of hotel & resort facilities, systems and equipment. The department is seen as a vital service provider to the success of the operational functionality of the Waterpark. Collobraotes with  Hotel Facilities team and optimize resources, work control, materials and colleagues to ensure all aspects of tasks, PPM’s, and maintenance are of the highest standard and effectiveness

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the treatment, distribution and daily operations of all water treatment facilities throughout the property.
  • Ensure that periodic testing & analysis are conducted to ensure the right quality of water supply for different applications.
  • Ensure all documentation are maintained in alignment with governing bodies and industry standards.
  • Oversee the Project Management and Supervising of day to day operations, Capex projects and emergency repairs.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are instituted.
  • Investigating availability and suitability of options for current and new premises.
  • Calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money.
  • Be accountable and responsible for the financial performance of the department.
  • Planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Managing and leading change to ensure minimum disruption to core values.
  • Ensuring all mechanical plant rooms, aquariums, pools, spas & fountains meets health and safety requirements.
  • Planning best allocation and utilization of space and resources for the current premises.
  • Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed to a high standard and following up on any deficiencies to ensure that they are rectified.
  • Coordinating and leading one or more teams to cover various areas of responsibility.
  • Using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement of the team’s performance;
  • Responding appropriately and control situations to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring all equipment is in proper working conditions

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Aquatic Maintenance (swimming pools) and Life Support Systems 
  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Occupational, Health, Safety & Environment.
  • Experience in Preventative Maintenance, Support Services or Fish Husbandry.
  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or equivalent.
  • Member of a recognized Industry Institute.
  • Ability to work with others to ensure the highest standards are maintained consistently.
  • Experience in the Hospitality Industry.
  • Strong & Proven Leadership and Management Skills
