Job Summary

The Commis Chef is an entry-level kitchen professional responsible for assisting senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of food. This role involves learning and rotating through different kitchen stations, preparing ingredients, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen. The Commis Chef is expected to develop culinary skills, follow instructions accurately, and contribute to a high-quality dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs with preparation and cooking.
• Prepare ingredients (washing, chopping, measuring, marinating, etc.).
• Learn kitchen stations: rotating through different areas to gain experience.
• Maintain cleanliness: ensuring workstations, utensils, and kitchen areas are clean and organized.
• Follow instructions: executing tasks exactly as directed by senior chefs.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

• Basic cooking skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Teamwork and communication.
• Willingness to learn and take criticism constructively.

• Minimum 2–4 years of professional kitchen experience, preferably in a similar role or under a Sous/Executive Chef.
• Experience in high-volume, fine-dining, or hotel kitchen environments is advantageous.
• Proven track record of supervising staff and maintaining kitchen standards.

Culinary degree, diploma, or relevant professional
