About the Role
As the Manager, Freight & Shipping at Atlantis Dubai, you will be responsible for the supply chain and logistics surrounding the importation of products into Dubai, for Atlantis Dubai, arranging inbound freight either by air, ocean, or courier, coordinating with freight forwarders, customs clearance, and port to door delivery, as well as oversight of the financials associated with these processes. You will also be responsible to organize, lead, manage, and evaluate the activities of the freight and shipping department, responsible for overseeing the logistics and transportation of products related to food, furniture, live fish, and functional equipment for the Atlantis Dubai hotels. This will involve the end-to-end coordination and tracking of import shipments that come under the sea freight, air freight and road freight channels into the UAE from global destinations.
Other key responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to, negotiating with suppliers, logistics providers, and service representatives to get best freight quotes that result in optimal services and shipment deliveries to end users in the operation. You will help manage the inter-departmental costing for logistics and transport to ensure that they are under the planned budget. This involves coordinating with freight agents, air and sea liners, and carriers and insurance companies to get the preferred rates and ensure high service levels from them.
About You
The successful Manager, Freight & Shipping candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and have at least 7 years’ relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience at supervisory level.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with great written and spoken English, as well as strong leadership skills with a proven track record managing a team. You will have good problem-solving skills, experience with ERP solutions, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. You will also have experience handling food stock and preferably have a forklift certification.
