Position Description
Under the guidance of the Wellness Director, the Cultural Ambassador is the guardian and transmitter of ancestral wisdom within the Resort and Spa. Their mission is to create transformative experiences that connect guests and staff with the spiritual, natural, and cultural heritage of the Mexica, Mayan, Toltec, and other Mesoamerican traditions. Through ceremonies, workshops, and rituals, they promote holistic well-being and harmony between body, mind, spirit, and nature, maintaining the highest standards of ultra-luxury service and excellence in every detail.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
For Guests:
Lead Temazcal ceremonies with authenticity, safety, and deep respect for tradition, ensuring a spiritual experience of excellence and comfort.
Facilitate cultural and spiritual workshops on herbal medicine and ancestral Mexica, Mayan, and Toltec wisdom, transmitting knowledge with elegance, sensitivity, and precision.
Lead nature and archaeological tours with inspiring narrative, personalized attention, and impeccable execution, ensuring a first-class educational and sensorial experience.
Offer concerts of pre-Hispanic music and sound healing, carefully curating every aesthetic, acoustic, and energetic element to achieve an immersive and harmonious atmosphere.
Perform dance performances and sunset ceremonies with copal, with a refined staging consistent with the spa's values of beauty, respect, and spirituality.
Provide private, Mexican-style shamanic consultations with ethics, confidentiality, and profound presence, creating moments of introspection and transformation guided by excellence in service.
Coordinate and execute special ceremonies (eclipses, equinoxes, family or space blessings), adapting them with elegance and attention to the context and guest expectations.
For Collaborators (Internal Team)
Lead welcoming and spiritual connection ceremonies for staff, conveying the spa's values and strengthening a sense of belonging and purpose.
Teach cultural and ancestral awareness workshops, fostering spiritual sensitivity, respect for roots, and the integration of conscious practices into the workplace.
Guide temazcales and internal collective rituals, focused on emotional well-being, team cohesion, and energetic balance.
Ensure operational and aesthetic excellence in each internal ceremony, maintaining the same quality and attention to detail as in guest experiences.
Standards of Service and Excellence
Maintain an impeccable and professional presence, consistent with the ultra-luxury hospitality philosophy.
Attend to every sensorial element—lighting, aroma, sound, attire, ritual materials, and body language—to offer immersive, elegant, and emotionally meaningful experiences.
Ensure the perfect execution of each ceremony, anticipating needs, personalizing every detail, and ensuring a harmonious and fluid flow throughout all stages of the experience.
Collaborate with other areas of operations, wellness, and hospitality to ensure the cultural experience is integrated with the spa's premium standards.
Internal and External Relations
Reports to: Director of Wellness and Guest Experience
Collaborates with: All Wellness, Kids Only, Sports & Leisure team members, and other Resort departments as needed.
External Interaction: Guests, cultural communities, artists, spiritual leaders, etc.
Administration
Maintains the privacy and ensures the safety of in-house guests.
Reports to duty punctually and according to the department's duty roster, wearing a clean and proper uniform and a Spa pin.
About you.
Proven training or experience in ancestral rituals and traditions (Mexica, Mayan, Toltec, or other related traditions).
In-depth knowledge of herbalism, medicinal plants, and ceremonial practices.
Experience in luxury hospitality settings.
Skills in pre-Hispanic music, ritual dance, or sound healing (desirable).
Excellent personal presentation, aesthetic sensitivity, and empathetic communication.
Intermediate or advanced English (desirable for serving international guests).
