About the job.

Responsible for the accuracy of accounting records for daily revenue and for ensuring that payment methods (cash, credit cards, or accounts receivable) are balanced on a daily basis. Must prepare a daily report on the hotel’s revenue performance.
 

Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • Prepares the Daily Revenue Report.
  • Prepares the Daily Revenue Journal Entry.
  • Properly presents all supporting documents and generates reports daily and on time (Package Management).
  • Ensures that the Audit work has been carried out correctly.
  • Verifies all reports for accuracy of revenue and settlement in cash / credit cards / bank transfers.
  • Ensures that the City Ledger & Guest Ledger are balanced.
  • Reviews room charges versus published rates and investigates any discrepancies.
  • Reviews and analyzes all revenue adjustments, guest refunds, Paid Outs, miscellaneous charges, and identifies anomalies.
  • Reviews and analyzes statistics related to occupied, available, and out-of-order rooms, as well as the number of diners in food and beverage outlets, and any additional statistics related to daily revenue auditing.
  • Reviews administrative calls to identify misuse and reports to the Department Manager.
  • Maintains an organized and secure filing system.
  • Ensures proper recording of local, state, and federal taxes related to lodging revenue.
  • Verifies that rooms charged as House Use or Complimentary have the proper authorization.
  • Performs surprise audits of Consumption Centers and General Cashier.
  • Guarantees confidentiality in all matters related to Audit and Cash activities.
  • Must be able to maintain good relationships with all Resort departments.
  • Prepares balance account reconciliations, supports and follows up on items over 30 days old.
  • Ensures compliance with all Resort policies and procedures (SOPs).
  • Performs any other task assigned by the Finance Manager, Director of Finance, or Resort General Manager.

About you.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in hotel accounting, preferably in a luxury or ultra-luxury property.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • General Skills: Must be able to perform duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. Organize, prioritize, and follow up. Think clearly, remain calm, and solve problems using good judgment. Follow instructions closely, understand operational and financial needs, work closely with colleagues as part of a team. Work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality of associate, guest, and hotel information.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of accounting/hospitality operations. Ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including, but not limited to, percentages, dollars, cents, feet, inches, cups, pounds, and ounces. Ability to concentrate and maintain focus on tasks despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical, or unusual interruptions. Ability to memorize, recall, and quickly retrieve dates, names, times, and other data. Knowledge of systems such as Opera, Symphony, iScala, SpaSoft, etc.
  • Language: Must speak, read, and write in Spanish and English preferably.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform various physical movements in work areas, lift and move items, and remain seated for long periods of time.
