About the Role
As a Commis Chef, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of food items in accordance with the standards and guidelines set by the Executive Chef. You will work closely with senior kitchen staff to maintain a high standard of quality, presentation, and cleanliness while enhancing the reputation of our culinary offerings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation and production of dishes as instructed by senior chefs, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to hygiene and safety standards at all times.
• Learn and apply proper cooking techniques and food presentation styles under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
• Ensure ingredients and produce are properly stored, labeled, and handled according to food safety regulations.
• Support the team in maintaining an efficient and smooth-running kitchen environment.
• Take direction from senior chefs and be proactive in learning new skills and techniques.
• Assist in receiving and checking stock deliveries to ensure quality and freshness.
• Follow all HACCP and food safety procedures as required by the restaurant and relevant legislation.
• Contribute to a positive team environment and uphold One&Only’s commitment to exceptional service.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
• A qualification in professional cookery or a similar field from a recognized training institute is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or cruise ship environment.
• Passion for cooking, a willingness to learn, and a keen eye for detail.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude.
• Proficiency in English would be beneficial.
