Job Summary
The Director, Rooms are acts as the property's Primary Strategic business leader with responsibility for all aspects of the Room Operations. Mainly includes managing Rooms performance, managing profitability, managing revenue generation, managing and delivering a return on investment (ROI). The Director, Rooms in charge of Rooms leads their team in the development and implementation of property wide strategies. Ensures implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives with the objective  of exceeding guest expectations and creating joy for guests and colleagues. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure service programs are in place and executed against
  • Ensure all Forbes points are implemented and the teams are trained on awareness of the program.
  • Provide timely, real time feedback to management and hourly associates on service and operational standards
  • Create and support clear lines of responsibility for management team, including coverage and oversight throughout the day and night
  • Champion, review and follow up on property ReviewPro scores and comments   Provide coaching on rooms operations
  • Manage relationships with decision makers at top accounts
  • Develop innovative means for capturing new streams of revenue through property amenities
  • Interact with in house guests to prospect for new sources of business
  • Identify key revenue generating stakeholders and customers and communicate information to sales offices
  • Coach and reinforce an associate selling strategy that takes advantage of property amenities
  • Measure, analyze, and communicate property performance using a variety of financial or non-financial data including controllable costs, sales revenue, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement data
  • Review and work with appropriate revenue management reports and participate in strategy meetings.  
  • Prepare and present reports for owners and above property leadership using financial or performance data
  • Work closely with all members of the Executive Committee and Manager, Host, Manager Front of House, Executive Housekeeper
  • Conduct property critique in areas of responsibility
  • Ensure ongoing development of rooms managers

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in hotel management
  • Extensive knowledge of hotel operations and operating strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of rooms & food & beverage operations
  • Knowledge of revenue management and marketing strategies
  • Ability to understand complex sales organization and corresponding sales processes  
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards
  • Strong organization skills
  • Financial management skills e.g., ability to analyze P&L statements, develop operating budgets, forecasting and capital expenditure planning
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems  
  • Effective decision-making skills; can choose a course of action amongst options involving uncertainty or risk
  • Strong problem-solving skills; encourages new innovative solutions when appropriate
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
