Job Summary

A Barback is responsible for supporting bartenders and ensuring the smooth operation of the bar area. This position involves assisting with stocking, cleaning, organizing, and replenishing bar supplies while maintaining an efficient, clean, and organized workspace. Barback play a key role in helping bartenders provide fast, high-quality service to guests by ensuring the bar area is well-stocked and that guests' needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Bar Support and Inventory Management

• Stock and restock the bar with necessary supplies, such as alcohol, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, and straws.
• Maintain and organize the bar’s storage areas, ensuring that all products are stored properly and are easily accessible.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the bartender or bar manager when supplies are running low.
• Ensure that glassware is clean and properly stocked, ready for use by bartenders.
• Assist in the preparation of garnishes, fruit trays, and other ingredients required for drinks.

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Keep the bar area clean and organized by wiping down surfaces, cleaning spills, and disposing of trash.
• Clean and polish glassware to ensure it is ready for service.
• Ensure that all equipment, including blenders, taps, and refrigerators, are functioning properly and report any maintenance issues.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the back bar and storage areas.

Customer Service Assistance

• Assist bartenders in serving guests by fetching drinks, garnishes, and supplies quickly and efficiently.
• Assist with the preparation and serving of drinks under the guidance of the bartender.
• Help in managing bar tools and equipment, ensuring that the bartenders have everything they need for quick and efficient service.
• Support bartenders during busy times by clearing used glassware and keeping the bar area clean.
• Occasionally interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner to enhance their experience, under the guidance of bartenders.

Team Support

• Work collaboratively with bartenders, servers, and other bar staff to ensure a seamless service experience.
• Help bartenders with the setup and breakdown of the bar before and after shifts.
• Assist in setting up for special events or promotions, ensuring the bar is well-prepared for large crowds.

Health & Safety Compliance

• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
• Ensure that all supplies are used in accordance with safety standards to prevent accidents or contamination.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

Education:

• No formal education required, though a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a bar or restaurant setting is a plus but not required. Training is typically provided on the job.

Skills:

• Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Basic knowledge of alcohol and beverage ingredients is helpful but not required.
