Job Summary

  • To report for duty punctually always wearing the hotel uniform and name tag.
  • To always provide a courteous and professional service.
  • To be constantly aware of the room status and to obtain maximum vacant rooms for sale.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure the smooth operation and efficiency of the assigned areas.
  • To study and evaluate the operation/procedures and suggest improvements to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To assign responsibilities to subordinates and check their performance.
  • To ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of rooms and housekeeping equipment, and schedule  necessary preventive maintenance and repair work.
  • To assign suites to the Housekeeping Attendants for cleaning.
  • To ensure vacant ready suites are checked to standard and released for sale.
  • To inspect corridors, back areas, staircases, stores, pantries, and garbage areas.
  • To note down repairs, linen supplies and out of order rooms.
  • To ensure that par stock of linen and guest supplies in the pantry areas are according to     forecast.
  • To ensure that the Housekeeping Attendants exercise proper discipline and courtesy in  attending to the Guests Needs/Requests.
  • To report sick and irregular behavior of Guests and Employees immediately to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To check the proper turn down services in the evening as per set standards.

 

  • To record activities/problems and follow-up work as necessary in the Log Book.
  • To prepare all repair orders and distribute to the engineering department for follow up.
  • To assist in taking various Housekeeping inventories.
  • To conduct training and re-training of front line personnel as required in order to maintain highest standards.

 

 

Public Areas

  • To ensure the smooth operation and efficiency of the assigned areas.
  • To study and evaluate the operation/procedures and suggest improvement to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To assign responsibilities to subordinates and check their work performance.
  • To supervise, coordinate and participate in the cleanliness of lobby, restaurants, offices, public areas and back of the house, ensuring highest possible standard of cleanliness.
  • To ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all Housekeeping Equipment, and schedule necessary preventive maintenance and repair work.
  • To control the consumption of cleaning materials and supervise the adequate stocking of cleaning supplies.
  • To send all lost and found items to the Housekeeping Department immediately.
  • To prepare repair orders for Public Areas and distribute to the engineering department for follow up.
  • To ensure safety standards are adhered to in all assigned areas.

 

 

Linen Room

  • To ensure the smooth operation and efficiency of the Linen room.
  • To study and evaluate the operation/procedures and suggest improvements to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To assign responsibilities to subordinates and check their work performance.
  • To requisition for linen and uniforms whenever required, for the approval of the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To ensure that the clerical system in the Linen Room is adhered to.
  • To supervise the checking of clean linen and uniforms from and to the Laundry Department.
  • To keep files up-to-date on department uniforms as to colour, style, size and condition.
  • To ensure the proper storage of uniforms and linen for efficient distribution.

 

 

      Employee Handling

  • To ensure that all employees report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name tag at all times.
  • To assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, and development.
  • To ensure that all employees provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
  • To assist in the training of the employees ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with maximum efficiency.
  • To supervise the employees within the Department ensuring that the correct standards and methods of service are maintained.
  • To ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel's employees rules and regulations.

General

  • To maintain up-to-date daily records of operational activities and Guest comments in the Log Book.
  • To attend Briefings and Meetings as requested by the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To respond to changes in the Departmental function as dictated by the Industry, Company or       Hotel.
  • Participates in the multi-skilling philosophy of the department.

 

 

Education or Certification

  • Proven ability to successfully lead, train and motivate colleagues is essential
  • Luxury Hotel Brand experience preferred
  • Must be highly organized, energetic and possess the ability to get the job done
  • Strong administration, problem-solving and organizational skills are valuable for this important position
  • Dynamic, energetic, creative and thrives under pressure
  • Elementary or High School
