Job Summary 

The Manager, Health & Safety will ensure the smooth and efficient operation by managing, monitoring and enforcing all health and safety related programs in the Hotel and respective Employee Residences to ensure the highest standard and best practices are implemented in terms of Occupational Health & Safety. 

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Ensure all health and safety programs are successfully deployed and functioning to be compliant with all Local and Federal regulations. 

  • Monitor analyze and report on the performance of the health and safety programs within respective Departments. 

  • To assess, investigate and report on health and safety incidents and manage corrective actions with all relevant departments.  

  • To ensure that the new process Epack Hygiene Manager is well followed and the staff well train 

  • To act as technical specialist in all HSE related matters. 

  • Adopt a proactive and pre-emptive approach to managing risk. 

  • Proactively identify health, safety and welfare short comings, including development needs. 

  • Monitor and pre-empt changes to local requirements and adapt established training and communications processes accordingly. 

  • Monitor accident and incident reports to formulate a trend analysis and proactively apply the necessary corrective or preventative measures. 

  • Review and monitor emergency procedures, systems application and testing. 

  • Conduct regular compliance assessments of health and safety programs.  

  • Develop and present function specific health and safety training programs working in conjunction with the Learning & Development Department. 

  • Ensure health and safety training programs are implemented in all departments. 

  • Utilize established systems, processes and training programs to further improve Departmental goals. 

  • Provide advice and guidance to the senior leaders on all subjects related to Health & Safety. 

  • Liaise all department heads on issues relating to the application of health and safety programs and assess each department/function development needs. 

  • Provide administrative, management and technical support to ensure Food Safety and Hygiene is best in class.  

  • To record and track all supplier’s in hygiene certification working in collaboration with procurement. 

  • Ensure ISO 22000 certification is implemented and continuous in order to further improve food safety and hygiene.  

  • Attend management meetings as required and actively participate in functional process of the Health and Safety departments. 

  • Work with Internal Audit team to ensure compliance of Kerzner Global Office guidelines.  

  • Any and all other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.  

  • Responsible with the help of our supplier for the Diversey product to be well conducted in stewarding, best practice 

  • Control that the stewards apply the Hygiene and safety procedures 

  • Lead the steward team that follows the procedure plan of cleaning  

 

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements  

  • Diploma/Certificate in HSE field. 

  • Have knowledge and certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. 

  • Familiar with local and federal Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations. 

  • Min of 4 years’ experience in HSE in the hospitality industry.
