JOB SUMMARY
To assist in the operational and standards of the Spa, ensuring complete viability of the Spa. To ensure that the highest standards of treatments and services are always adhered to, and that guest experience exceeds expectations. To support the Manager and spa and establish and maintain operating criteria, programming, budgeting, VIP guest visits, staff relations, and training. To promote the overall philosophy and services of the Spa to reinforce the reputation and profile of the Resort by providing a quality total destination spa experience and upkeep of spa facilities.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To assist in achieving agreed commercial targets at the Spa through the planned coordinated development of the facility and the implementation of the treatment and activity program.
• To be responsible for motivating and driving sales and establish targets, which are realistic and achievable.
• To liaise with the Manager and spa on forecasts, stock levels, requisitions, budget, targets, etc., and ensure a par stock level appropriate to business demands.
• To assist with the department’s operational budget ensuring that it is in line and costs are strictly controlled.
• To ensure that booking strategies utilize the therapist’s time effectively and maximize the revenue.
• To assist with financial analysis of the spa operation
• To ensure all staff actively promote and sell the Spa and Recreational services, products, and activities.
• In conjunction with the Manager, Spa, develop concept planning, a menu of services, retailing, merchandising, marketing, and product development at the Spa.
• To ensure that the guests are kept informed of all the activities and developments at the Spa, both in the form of internal and external advertising and the publication of a regular newsletter.
• To personally network at all levels with individuals from both inside and outside the company structure for the further development of the therapists and therapy treatment spaces.
• To constantly be aware of innovations within the industry and consider their worth at the Spa.
• To maintain and update equipment, products, services, and standards as required.
• To deal with problems, inquiries, and complaints from Spa guests.
• To interact professionally with guests, guests, and or colleagues.
• To conduct regular daily inspections of the Spa to monitor ambiance, maintenance, cleanliness, health, and safety, staffing, and security.
• To maintain and monitor monthly inventories of products, stock, and linen. This includes tracking all product orders directly or from general stores.
• To maintain and work together with external services companies, i.e.: Bastien Pedicure, etc.
• Personally undertake operational duties within the department to the demands of the business.
• To train, drive, and uphold LQA and FORBES Standards
• Drive Colleagues' engagement year after year to produce highly motivated and engaged teams.
• Work with Colleagues annually on appraisals/performance review and or growth plan
• To meet and greet all guests, when possible, especially if a guest is listed as VIP.
• To conduct daily Duty Manager shifts and tasks as specified in the DM checklist.
• Stay updated with developments in the treatment Industry.
• To train, drive, and uphold LQA and FORBES Standards
• Drive Colleague's engagement year after year to produce highly motivated and engaged teams.
• Work with Colleagues annually on appraisals/performance reviews and or growth plans
• Responsible for all duties of the Manager, Spa in his/her absence.
• To perform any additional duties as may be requested by Management.
• Maintains the highest levels of personal hygiene and always grooming, as per One&Only standards.
• To be knowledgeable of the contraindications of services and products and act in accordance.
• To ensure the team maintains the cleanliness and hygiene of all spa areas, by the Health, Safety, and Hygiene Legislation.
• To be fully conversant with all health and safety, fire, and emergency procedures.
• Ensures to follow the rules and regulations of the employee handbook.
• To ensure that good practice is applied to all issues about employees and ensure that all Resort HR policies and procedures are followed.
• To maintain and implement the reporting procedures and control system established by the Resort.
• To provide an effective structure for communication within the Spa at all levels.
• To act as a mentor by always maintaining an open-door policy and providing staff with opportunities for growth and development.
• To motivate, encourage and drive the spa team, and maintain the correct level of professionalism and qualified personnel, overseeing all facilities and activities within the allocated department.
• To assist the Manager and spa with the recruitment, induction, training, development, appraisal, and discipline of the entire therapy team.
• To be responsible for instigating progressive, professional, and well-organized training and assessment of staff as per resort policy and procedures and oversee attendance sheets, sick leave, and holiday arrangements.
• Must hold a monthly/weekly meeting with the entire therapy team to motivate and be aware of staff needs.
• To be always courteous to guests and other team guests.
• To be accountable for all actions.
• When driving the resort’s buggies, ensure that rules and regulations are always followed.
• professionally handles any guest’s complaint, as per the resort’s Policy and procedure (service recovery).
• Ensures that disciplinary actions are taken, when necessary, according to the resort’s policies.
• Practices proper telephone etiquette with colleagues and resort guests.
• Exhibits outstanding knowledge of the resort, island, atoll, and the Maldivian culture.
• Knows and applies the resort’s Policies and procedures, including those for emergencies.
• Ensures maintenance work is completed, in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensures all fixed assets are well maintained.
• Demonstrates knowledge and interest in goals, and objectives of the One&Only brand.
• Ensures all activities are carried out honestly, ethically, and within the parameters of the Maldivian Law
SKILL EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
• Previous experience in a five-star Resort/Spa (minimum 2 years).
• Fluent in English written and spoken, other languages a distinctive advantage.
• Strong administration skills.
• To have a broad understanding of foot treatments, massage, and skin analysis.
• To possess outstanding communication skills.
• Attention to detail and aptitude to maintain a very hygienic environment.
• To have a positive and proactive attitude.
• To have outstanding customer service skills and a welcoming and sociable personality.
• Strong skills as a leader and interpersonal and social skills.
• Experience in handling guest complaints effectively.
• Strong command over all processing documents, computer skills, and managing databases such as Microsoft products, Spa Soft, and Opera software.
