About the Role

The Assistant Manager, Canteen will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Canteen. The purpose of this role is to support the organization to deliver a healthy and safe food service to all colleagues. The Assistant Manager, Canteen will undertake a range of activities, including food preparation, serving, food purchasing, storage, maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities, as well as ensuring that the Canteen areas are clean, sanitized, and ready for the next day’s activities in accordance with safe food handling and hygiene practices.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To plan, organize, and monitor the day-to-day operations of the Canteen, including daily record-keeping, opening and closing of the Canteen according to its set operating hours.
  • To ensure that the stock is kept at appropriate levels and a stock take is undertaken at the end of each week before ordering.
  • To order, purchase and check all supplies against invoices and delivery notes.
  • To implement procedures and processes regarding food safety.
  • To ensure that correct food handling and hygiene practices are performed to prevent food spoilage, contamination, and subsequent food poisoning.
  • To ensure that the cleaning incidental to the main function of the Canteen is carried out daily (e.g. dusting of shelves and stock, wiping down benches, cleaning of all equipment and fixtures) in accordance with the cleaning procedures set out in the food safety plan.

About You

The desired qualification for this role is at least a Higher School Certificate and a Diploma in Hotel Management. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in the same role in an Ultra-Luxury Resort and must be fluent in written as well as spoken English and French.
