Job Summary.
The Chief Engineer will manage the operation, maintenance, and facilities of 52 villas, each with its own pool, and all common areas, liaising with the Syndic of the Homeowners Association. The role ensures high standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency while managing villa-specific budgets, monthly energy and water consumption, and maintenance reporting for invoicing owners. The chief engineer will coordinate functions and activities with other department heads, guests, and owners as well as suppliers & contractors.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, strong leadership, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Engineering & Maintenance Management
- Supervise daily operations of the engineering and maintenance team.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for all villas, pools, and common areas.
- Manage DLP (Defects Liability Period) items and warranty claims.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Supervise maintenance of landscaping, irrigation systems, and pool equipment.
Facilities & Asset Management
- Monitor and optimize energy and water consumption villa by villa.
- Prepare monthly energy and water reports for finance to invoice owners accurately.
- Track villa-specific operational expenses and maintenance costs for reporting and budgeting purposes.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure all systems, pools, and landscaping are operational and meet quality standards.
- Implement energy-saving and sustainability initiatives.
Owner & Guest Relations
- Respond promptly to owner and guest requests or complaints related to villas and common facilities.
- Coordinate with other departments and contractors to resolve issues efficiently.
- Ensure all interventions are documented with costs, timelines, and outcomes for transparency to owners.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor the engineering and maintenance staff.
- Ensure the team adheres to company policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Foster a proactive, safety-conscious, and solutions-oriented work culture.
- Assist in the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and evaluation of performance and planning the activities of maintenance staff including making spot checks daily
- Ensure that effective communication flow is maintained at all times
- Actively participate in the community involvement projects and initiatives together with the hotel’s management team
- Maintaining a business environment based on the Code of Conduct and Company Vision
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare monthly reports detailing:
- Energy and water consumption per villa for owner billing.
- Maintenance expenses villa by villa.
- Pool and landscaping maintenance status.
- Overall operational challenges and proposed solutions.
- Assist in planning budgets, CAPEX, and long-term asset management strategies.
- Any other tasks and duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years in the role of Chief Engineer (large scale operations) or Director of Engineering (smaller operations)
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in facilities management, preferably in (high-end) villa complexes, resorts, or hotels.
- Proven leadership qualities to manage complex operations and diverse teams under time-bound goals.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC systems, pool systems, and landscaping maintenance.
- Experience managing villa-level reporting, energy/water billing, and maintenance schedules.
- Experience managing Capex projects effectively
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
