About the Role
Will be responsible for the effective leadership of both the operational and administrative duties in the Linen, Uniform and Guest valet
Department on a day to day basis.
To ensure all guest laundries delivered on time and updated in the delivery log. To ensure all Resort linen and uniforms are sent to the outsource laundry on time and receive on time and is accounted for. Will ensure storage of Linen is safe and in manner to keep linen in pristine condition.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- To attend to duty on time in correct uniform and well groomed.
- Holds daily briefings with the team ensuring they have the correct and updated information in order to carry out their duties effectively.
- To follow the resorts key control policy.
- Inspect and ensure all tools and equipment are functioning as per resort standards
- Oversee and coordinate all team members ensuring the operation is running efficiently and resort linen/ uniforms / Guest Laundry is handled as per resort standard procedures and policies
- Coordinate and manages the daily coordination of laundry deliveries in and out of the hotel and carries out inspections at the outside laundry facility. This includes the Guest Room linen, the F&B linen, the beach and pool linen, the Uniforms, the SPA linen and the Guest Laundry.
- Coordinates and monitors all guest alteration, ensuring all guest alteration is received and returned to the guest as per resort standards and policies.
- Coordinates and monitors all Uniform alteration, ensuring all guest alteration is received and returned to the guest as per resort standards and policies.
- Coordinates and monitors all guest laundry, ensuring all guest laundry is received and returned to the guest as per resort standards and policies.
- Monitors and reports to the HKP leaders regarding the running of the daily laundry operation.
- Log Book / follow up
- Billing management.
- Follow up Express Laundry
- Staff Schedule.
- Ensures training needs within the department is monitored, analyzed and executed as per resort standards.
- Oversees and carries out training for team members when required.
- Is fully trained on resort emergency procedures and first aid as per resort standards.
- Maintains and monitors up to date team records.
- Coaches, counsels and disciplines staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.
- Assist in overseeing departmental expenses ensuring inventories of operating equipment, linen and supplies are maintained and correct stock is kept.
- To assist the HKP leaders in being responsible for the supervision/co-ordination of all Laundry and Uniform staff by ensuring that all services offered by the laundry department are available and carried out with the utmost efficiency
- To have a full knowledge and understanding of all the chemical products utilized and their proper and economical use.
- Proper storage the environmental and proper disposal of all toxic products
- To have full knowledge of all the textiles and their proper care.
- Constantly check the linen, uniforms for cleanliness and defects recommend replacement to the Housekeeping Manager if necessary
- To assist subordinates during daily peak periods
- Participate in Housekeeping meetings and make suggestions for improvements to the Executive Housekeeper
- Participates in the multi – skilling philosophy of the department
- To respond to changes in the department function as dictated by the Industry, Company and Hotel
- Carries out any other requests by the Housekeeping leaders.
- Work as scheduled to a rotating roster will include morning shift, afternoon and evening shift and overnight shifts, this will also include weekends and public holidays (as per Mauritian Law).
Resort Linen Sorting areas:
- It should be monitored continuously
- All attendants trained to be responsible for bins counts
- When are full, they are to move to the side.
- As loaded trucks comes in, verify delivery count for content of delivery
- Truck are loaded to return to the laundry, no truck leaves empty
- Tracking of the bins are to be recorded on the tracking sheet
- Tracking sheet are completed with invoices
- All soiled linen has to send to the laundry before 9am and before
Rooms:
- Rooms linen during is to consolidated and kept organized
- Ancillary items are to be placed in correct places
- Duvet inserts, standard bed throw, pillows are to be shelved
- Restocking logs are to be followed up, discrepancies go to the HSK Team leaders
- Restocking shortage logs to be e – mailed to the laundry
- Report irregularities to the laundry, i.e., dampness, incorrect folds
- Control stains treat / discards
- Organized ordering process
Spa:
- Make sure items are getting to the SPA in a timely manner
- Cross check load plans and plan accommodate SPA needs
- Control stains treat / discards

- Soiled SPA linen counted and sent to the laundry
- Check control sheet for soiled going out and coming in fresh linen
Guest Laundry
- Know and understand all tracking documents, read them daily
- Laundry log
- Express laundry Board
- Communication among all the team
- Must check the Room number, name of VIP- 1 & 2, the laundry will be delivered with wooden hangers
- Must check DND log, room move log
- Regular laundry before the delivery double check the room number and guest name in the Opera system in order to avoid wrong delivery
- Delivery & Pick up register needs to be monitored on daily basis
- Guest laundry summary Book let –
- Any void checked signature by Manager and Handover to the General Cashier
Restocking:
- Know the restocking process
- Monitor the team is working in the most efficient manner
- Monitor timing and problems solve is there any obstacles
- All logs are to be monitored
- Discrepancies and shortage are to be reported to Team Leaders
- Make sure the area is organized and clean at the end of shift
About You
The ideal candidate should have at least a school certificate. The candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in the same role in an International Ultra-Luxury Resort and must be fluent in written and spoken English and French.
