Job Description – Fitness & Yoga host

2  Job Details & Requirements

Responsible for delivering exceptional wellbeing services and treatments to resort guests at the Club One & Spa in accordance with One&Only brand standards, while maintaining excellent five-star service and guest care, as well as upholding cleaning, personal hygiene, and grooming standards. Also accountable for revenue generation by promoting wellbeing services, retail products, and upselling and cross-selling to other business centers within the wellness, Spa, and Resort.

To arrange personalized wellbeing outdoor activities and services for guests at One&Only Nyungwe House, in direct coordination with other departments. This includes organizing daily activities in alignment with One&Only Nyungwe House services and operations, and effectively communicating planned activities for the day with the Front of House (FOH) team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 As a Yoga Instructor-

  • Lead yoga classes for resort guests, including group sessions, private lessons, and specialized workshops.
  • Develop and implement yoga sequences that align with guests' needs and preferences, incorporating elements of relaxation, meditation, and physical exercise.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions during classes, offering modifications and adjustments to accommodate different skill levels and abilities.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, fostering a sense of community among participants.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yoga studio, ensuring that equipment is properly set up and sanitized before and after each session.
  • Stay updated on current trends and developments in yoga practice, incorporating new techniques and styles into your classes as appropriate.
  • Educate guests about the benefits of yoga and promote additional wellness services offered by the resort.
  • Build relationships with guests, addressing any concerns or questions they may have and offering personalized recommendations for their wellness journey.
  • Collaborate with other resort staff members to coordinate class schedules, special events, and promotional activities.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, always ensuring the well-being of participants.
  • Set and strive to achieve targets for class attendance and revenue generation, utilizing strategic marketing tactics and guest engagement techniques.
  • Implement cross-selling initiatives by promoting other resort services and amenities during yoga sessions, such as spa treatments, healthy dining options, or outdoor excursions.
  • Foster repeat clientele by delivering exceptional service and personalized attention, cultivating a loyal following of guests who return for the enriching experience you provide.

As a Fitness Instructor-

  • Lead fitness classes such as workout, aerobics, Pilates, spinning, and strength training.
  • Develop and implement personalized fitness programs for resort guests based on their goals, fitness levels, and any medical considerations.
  • Provide individualized instruction and guidance to guests during workouts to ensure proper form and technique.
  • Conduct fitness assessments and consultations to evaluate guests' fitness levels and establish realistic goals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized fitness facility, ensuring that all equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in fitness and wellness to continuously enhance programming and services.
  • Promote fitness-related activities and events within the resort, encouraging guest participation.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials and promotional campaigns to attract guests to fitness offerings.
  • Collaborate with other resort departments, such as spa services and recreational activities, to provide integrated wellness experiences for guests.
  • Uphold safety protocols and emergency procedures to always ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, addressing guest inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Set and achieve targets for guest engagement and participation in fitness classes and personalized training sessions.
  • Cross-sell spa services and packages to fitness clientele, promoting a holistic approach to wellness and relaxation.
  • Cultivate relationships with guests to encourage repeat business, providing excellent service and personalized attention to their fitness needs and goals.

Additional responsibility

  • Safeguard the well-being of resort guests by enforcing pool regulations and safety protocols, ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment.
  • Provide attentive and courteous assistance to guests, addressing inquiries, and attending to their needs with professionalism and efficiency, enhancing the overall guest experience.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents, implementing established protocols and coordinating with relevant personnel to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests.
  • Organize and lead e-bike excursions for resort guests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Provide thorough instruction and guidance on e-bike operation, safety procedures, and route navigation to participants.
  • Conduct pre-ride equipment checks and maintenance to ensure the proper functioning and safety of e-bikes.
  • Plan and design engaging and scenic routes that cater to various skill levels and interests, highlighting local points of interest and attractions.
  • Accompany guests on e-bike tours, offering insightful commentary and information about the surroundings, flora, fauna, and cultural heritage.
  • Monitor group dynamics and individual needs during excursions, adapting plans and pace as necessary to ensure a positive and rewarding experience for all participants.
  • Collaborate with resort staff to coordinate logistics, manage equipment inventory, and promote e-bike activities through marketing and guest communications channels.

STANDARDS/OPERATIONS

  • Perform all wellness services at an exceptional standard, as per One&Only protocols and standards taught in training, whilst tailoring to the guest’s specific needs.
  • Carry out an in-depth consultation with each guest prior to offering wellness services, ensuring medical history and concerns are identified and considered.
  • Provide the exceptional guest experience by thinking above and beyond.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities, e-bike, gym, pool, and at outside activities pathway, keep area clean and organized as per the resort’s standards.
  • Follow any maintenance issues and maintain the log or issue work order.

GUEST RELATIONS

  • Maintain the highest standard of guest service by following One&Only protocols and displaying genuine care and attention to detail.
  • Consistently record guest preferences, accurately updating guest profiles and communicating any relevant information to Colleagues.
  • Always ensure confidentiality and professionalism including data protection, medical details and any information provided in confidence by the client.
  • Report any guest complaints to the Head of the Department so that they can be handled promptly and effectively.

HEALTH, SAFETY & HYGIENE

  • Perform all wellness activities in a professional, hygienic, and safe manner for all guests, updating knowledge and training regularly.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, sterilization and hygiene of all equipment, products, and preparation areas.
  • Day to day responsibility for equipment, products, cleanliness and hygiene of the services and preparation areas.
  • Receive training on all relevant legislation pertaining to the Health and Safety at Work Law and Health and Hygiene standards. 
  • Act responsibly at all times in relation to personal safety along with the safety of colleagues and guests at the fitness center, pool and wellness area.
  • Work together with Housekeeping Attendants where required in maintaining additional cleanliness and hygiene in the fitness, pool and wellness. facilities.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a high standard of appearance and personal hygiene as laid down by the wellness department standard.
  • Always be punctual and prepared in advance of duty time or in the event of pre booked wellness activities.
  • Support all departments in the Resort where necessary including covering Reception duties as and when required.
  • Must adhere to training as set down by the wellness department and attend all training courses as deemed necessary.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Any of the specialized areas of interest, ability or training would be relevant.
    • Knowledge of holistic therapies, fitness instruction and training
  • Any job experience in the Hospitality sector and Facilities department in a resort environment (preferable five star) is a valuable addition.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork.
  • Flexible and positive attitude.
  • Confident in interacting with the guests and Colleagues.
  • Must be confident to plan and responsible to work out daily duties independently

 

Additional Requirements

Fluency in English is essential, any additional languages are preferable
