The Director of Security is responsible for all Safety, Security, and Emergency procedures, protocols, and activities within the property. 
This role oversees the Security Supervisors and ensures that all team members receive proper training on security-related topics. The Director of Security acts as the key liaison between operational teams and senior management, guaranteeing that departmental goals, standards, and procedures are consistently met. 

About the Job 

As the Director of Security, you will lead all Safety, Security, and Emergency operations across the property, ensuring a secure environment for guests, colleagues, and assets. 
You will oversee the Security Supervisors and ensure consistent compliance with company procedures, emergency protocols, and regulatory standards, including applicable Mexican NOMS (STPS). 
Your role serves as a bridge between the operational team and senior management, ensuring that departmental goals, training, and performance standards are effectively communicated and achieved. 

 

About You 

 

You are an experienced security leader with strong decision-making skills, exceptional integrity, and the ability to maintain calm and sound judgment in high-pressure situations. 
You have 3–5 years of leadership experience in security management, ideally as a Security Director or similar role, and preferably hold an Engineering degree (Industrial Engineering desired). 
You are highly organized, proactive, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
You are committed to safety excellence, regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional service while ensuring the well-being of guests, staff, and facilities. 

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Ensure strict supervision of all tasks, work assignments, and departmental discipline, following company policies and standards. 

  • Plan work schedules and vacation rotations for hotel and golf course security agents. 

  • Respond to GIRs once follow-up has been conducted. 

  • Oversee the daily distribution of incident reports to relevant stakeholders. 

  • Maintain and update all company emergency manuals. 

  • Lead investigative processes in cases of theft or loss on property. 

  • Conduct daily property patrols verifying compliance with operational standards, procedures, and company principles. 

  • Organize and attend departmental meetings requested by the Security Manager. 

  • Participate in daily line-ups at each shift change. 

  • Maintain control and organization of the Lost & Found department. 

  • Supervise weekly inventory of hotel and golf security equipment (radios, handcuffs, pepper spray, etc.). 

  • Support training of hotel and golf security staff. 

  • Inspect hotel vehicles and ensure employee transportation units are in good condition. 

  • Supervise replenishment of first-aid kits and verify emergency equipment readiness. 

  • Actively participate in Safety & Hygiene Committee inspections. 

  • Demonstrate full capability to supervise, guide, correct, and perform tasks assigned to Security Supervisors. 

  • Work with HR with the daily/ logistic of colleague transportation.  

  • Ensure effective communication of departmental goals from leadership to supervisors and staff. 

  • Handle direct follow-up with guests and visitors regarding security-related reports or complaints. 

  • Guarantee staff training in: 

  • Policies and procedures 

  • Regulations and norms 

  • First Aid 

  • Emergency Protocols 

  • Firefighting equipment 

  • Emergency Brigades 

  • Incident Reports 

  • Physical conditioning 

  • Hurricane procedures 

  • Evaluate Supervisors’ performance and guide them toward goals and objectives. 

Emergency & Technical Knowledge 

  • Must fully understand and identify emergency equipment and systems: 

  • Fire detection systems 

  • Emergency exits, evacuation routes, and assembly points 

  • First-aid equipment 

  • Security protocols and procedures 

  • Mexican Official Standards (NOMs), including STPS workplace safety regulations 

  • Local emergency contact networks 

Risk Identification 

  • Identify risk areas with Supervisors and communicate findings to responsible departments. 

  • Ensure that contractors, suppliers, and visitors comply with established safety and security regulations. 

 

Education & Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering degree preferred (Industrial Engineering ideal). 

  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a Security Director or similar leadership role. 

  • Strong leadership abilities. 

  • Honest, disciplined, and well-organized. 

  • Ability to work under pressure. 

  • Skilled in motivating and inspiring a team. 

  • Proficient written and spoken English. 

  • Clear and effective communication skills. 

  • Clean criminal background (per local regulations). 

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software. 

  • Ability to handle conflict situations calmly and resolve them appropriately. 

  • Extensive experience in security operations and emergency response. 

  • Strong knowledge of fire protection equipment and systems. 

  • Understanding of NOM STPS regulations and national safety standards preferred.
