Director of Groups & Special Events

  • Forecast and report financials to executive team monthly, quarterly and annually. 
  • Develop and manage yearly department budget. 
  • Manages and controls expenses and looks for cost cutting opportunities. 
  • Liaises with the Resident Manager and Department Heads when there is a special need or request made by the clients which may require to make an exception or change our standards/policies. 
  • Conducts such functions as interviewing, hiring, employee orientation, performance appraisal, coaching, counselling. 
  • Conducts Yearly reviews to the Groups & Special Events team members 
  • Ensures that the Groups & Weddings data base is up to date  
  • Resolves any complaints, questions or comments from guests 
  • Reviews with all Managers any information of past, present and upcoming events. 
  • Coordinates functions and activities with other department heads as appropriate. 
  • Keeps aware of trends, systems, practices and equipment in food & beverage through trade literature and actual visits. 
  • Ensures that all the information generated by the department such as BEOS, Groups & Weddings Resumes, e-mails, Agendas, and paperwork have been completed properly. 
  • Prepare special reports and handle special projects and assignments as directed by the Resident Manager. 
  • Develop a strong working relationship with all departments to maintain standards of performance and effective communication with all. 
  • Responsible for the department duties on the Resort Hurricane’s Shelter operational chart and functions. 
  • Generates Internal Agendas for any special project or event assigned directly by General Management 
  • Assumes and performs other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position
