About the role

 

Responsible for providing direction and leadership to the Rooms Division, ensuring consistent compliance with hotel standards of service and policies, while maximizing departmental profits. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee and direct Front Office, Butlers, Concierge, Housekeeping, Laundry, KidsOnly, PBX and Bell Services. 
  • Attend all Arrivals on a daily basis and Heads of Department meetings once per week. 

  • Organize and lead a weekly Rooms Division meeting. 

  • Inspect as many rooms as possible on a daily basis in coordination with Executive Housekeeper and Chief Engineer. 

  • Develop room’s preventive maintenance strategies along with Chief Engineer. 

  • Develop and follow up on any CAPEX projects that pertain to Rooms Division. 

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards. 

  • Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis. 

  • Assist in establishing and creating goals and strategies for both the operational and financial success of the resort. 

  • Responsible for achieving Rooms Division’s Departmental profit. 

  • Ensure that all departments under his responsibility comply with annual Training programs. 

  • Ensure that all staff vacation plans are planned at the beginning of the year and carried through during the year. 

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining resort standards in order to achieve and maintain luxury status. 

  • As a member of the management team, work closely with other team members in achieving resort's goals and objectives. 

  • During appraisals, establish annual objectives for managers reporting to him. 

  • Responsible for employee compliance with One&Only Resort's policies and procedures. 

  • Assist Managers to initiate disciplinary action when appropriate. 

  • Serve as Manager On Duty when needed. 

  • Interact in courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff and community members. 

  • Supervise, direct, coordinate, and influence staff in order to maintain service standards of resort. 

  • Interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly interaction with supervisor, subordinates, co-workers, and guests in completing assignments, resolving staff and guest complaints. 

  • Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. 

  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. 

  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of all resort’s public areas. 

  • All other duties as required. 

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements  

 

  • Knowledge and background on rooms Division and F&B. 

  • Must have 95% of English, written and verbal and Spanish. Third language is a plus. 

  • A potential hotel operations manager should have completed an undergraduate degree program in hospitality. 

  • Previous experience in a leadership role required 

  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities 

  • Highly responsible & reliable 

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment 

  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team 

  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
