Job Summary 

Oversee and be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of cleaned areas to the required standards as laid down by Housekeeping Manager and Housekeeping supervisors in accordance to NSW Government Standards.  To maintain the high standards of cleanliness required by the company in all guest rooms and public areas. This will be achieved by assigning resources, staff and equipment to various areas as required. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • To clean your designated rooms, or areas, to the required standards and procedures as laid down by the Housekeeping Manager and according to NSW Government standards. Ensure that work is done to Leading Hotels of the World standards. 

  • Ensuring to follow the correct procedure for signing in / out keys and radios.  Ensure buggies are checked prior to use.  Report any discrepancies to the Housekeeping Manager / Housekeeping Supervisor immediately. 

  • Ensure that all linen is in perfect condition, correctly ironed and stain free and that all linen, towels and mats are correctly positioned, hung or beds made according to the required standard.  Ensure that your working environment are clean and kept tidy during the shift; this is to include your uniform, trolleys, cleaning materials, garbage disposal, brushes and mops. 

  • Ensure that all furniture, windows, glass, fittings, floors, walls, tiles, carpets, drapes, bathrooms, behind and under furniture and in all corners are cleaned using the correct cleaning materials and that they are completely dust free. 

  • Ensure that all guest amenities are replenished on a daily basis, or as laid down by your departmental head; this is to include bathroom and shower amenities, slippers, bathrobes, and any other item as stipulated from time to time. 

  • To report any faulty electronics, lights, plumbing, telephone etc to the maintenance department/housekeeping supervisor as well and filling in your room check lists. 

  • Immediately report any lost property or valuables found in any departed or vacant room to your supervisor as well document items and action taken in your room check lists. 

  • Perform all duties following safe work procedures and correct manual handling techniques. 

  • Assist with the turndown service of all guest rooms; changing towels, sheets (if required), clearing rubbish from room and placing of turndown drink/snack in room and lighting of oil burner in bathroom.   

  • To perform any other reasonable duties as required, for example public areas and staff village 

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements   

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience as a room attendant in a hotel/managed apartment. 

  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, materials and chemicals is a requirement, as well and minimum hotel standards. 

  • Customer Service & Orientation.
