Life in the Blue Mountains

  • Oversee and control all aspects of porter services; this will include the coordination and transportation of guests’ luggage and belongings to/from rooms as well as assisting groups with items being brought into the hotel.  


Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Establish, set up and control all services that fall within the porters department; this will include collection, storage, and transportation of all guest belongings as well as other items that may be required from time to time. 

  • To oversee and provide guest assistance on arrival or departure with the coordination and delivery of belongings to the required room or area as requested. 

  • Ensure that all items handled are done so in a careful and respectful manner, thereby making sure that items within your department are not damaged or broken.  

  • To be available at your designated area at all times in order to maximise time efficiency when dealing with guests requirements.  

  • To directly assist other personnel in the Guest services as requested from time to time, whilst ensuring that guests’ services are not interrupted. 

  • Immediately advise Front Office Manager or management should any item under your control be damaged or broken, whether done prior to or whilst in your care. 

  • To be knowledgeable of all hotel services and facilities to effectively answer any quest queries that may arise whilst in your presence. 

  • Prioritise work requirements to ensure that guest services and requests take priority at all times. 

  • To report any faulty electronics, lights, plumbing, telephone etc to the maintenance department / front office supervisor within your area of duty.   

  • Immediately report any lost property or valuables found in any departed or vacant room to your supervisor as well document items and action taken in your room check lists. 


Knowledge & skills 

  • A minimum of 1 years work experience within a hotel/managed apartments, with a minimum of 2 months experience in a porter capacity. 

  • Unrestricted manual drivers license 

  • 4wd experience required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
