About the role

 

The Director of Sales will work closely with the General Manager to determine appropriate sales strategies to position the resort towards maximizing the hotel revenues. They should work closely with revenue management and marketing functions, to develop strategies to maximize REVPAR and grow market share.

 

The Director of Sales is responsible for direction and strategy in areas of overall account management, business generation, prospecting for the resort sales team. This position leads the team to achieve assigned revenue/room night goals as well as, being responsible for developing and maintaining key accounts in the market. This position will develop and manage all stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and execute the resort’s sales strategic plans to achieve / exceed targets,
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients while partnering with them to better understand their business objectives and needs,
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget and monitor sales activities/performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan and to accurately report variances/projections,
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluates trends within the market and ensures that the Sales Team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territories,
  • Direct the activities of the hotel sales team, providing leadership and motivation necessary to implement effective sales and marketing strategies and to maximize the generation of hotel sales/revenues,
  • Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget,
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner,
  • Coordinate preparation of the annual Marketing Plan,
  • Recruit, hire, train, and provide career development for all sales personnel; conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees using company hiring standards and guidelines. Maintain and promote a teamwork environment with effective and clear communication amongst co-workers,
  • Maintain a high level of the competitive set’s product knowledge, market intelligence and pricing,
  • Manage relationships and partnerships with sales accounts including setting targets,
  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Sales Office network,
  • Plan, organize and host client events, familiarization trips, trade and consumer shows, and internal clients/ hotels’ sales. Plan and conduct creative site inspections,
  • Create an outstanding brand image in every interaction with clients,
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

 

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

 

  • Strategic thinking and Sales oriented individual,
  • Proven leadership, communication, project management and organizational skills,
  • Strong listening, negotiation and presentation skills,
  • 360° background in all sales segments,
  • Leadership and communication.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Sales in the ultra-luxury hospitality,
  • Proven track record implementing successful Sales strategies to position a resort as the market leader,
  • Global outlook with experience of working across multiple regions.
