2.   Job Details & Requirements

Job Summary

The Sorter, Laundry is responsible for efficiently handling incoming linen, following the Standard operating procedure for Sorting ensuring it is sorted accurately by color, type, and condition before proceeding to washing. Ensuring the PPE is used when required. This role reports directly to the Team Leader and collaborates closely with the Washer, Attendants Laundry to maintain operational excellence in our laundry services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive linen deliveries from vehicles and unload them with safety protocols.
  • Verify the quantity and quality of linen received against delivery manifests and invoices.
  • Report any discrepancies or damaged items to the Team Leader Laundry immediately
  • Sort linen meticulously according to color, type (e.g., towels, sheets), and condition (e.g., stains, wear).
  • Ensure proper segregation of different types of linen to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Identify and separate items with stains and apply appropriate stain removal techniques before washing.
  • Assist with the Attendant Laundry duties during peak operational periods, including folding and packaging clean linen.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to optimize workflow and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols during all tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the sorting area to uphold hygiene standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use stain removal products and techniques as per standard operating procedures.
  • Report any challenging stains or issues to the Team Leader, Laundry for further evaluation and action.
  • Prevent mixing of outsourced laundry items with in-house items during sorting and processing.
  • Verify accuracy of customer bills and ensure they accompany the correct items sent for washing.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the superiors to support laundry operations.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve sorting techniques and stay updated on best practices.

 

  • Uphold health, safety, and cleanliness standards in the Sorting area, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Always present yourself professionally and address clients and colleagues in a polite and respectful manner.
  • Ensure proper and effective use of all supplies and equipment provided to you.
  • Follow hotel's Lost and Found procedures diligently, documenting and securely storing all found items, and reporting them to management.
  • Report any service-related defects immediately to the superiors.
  • Assist in training new colleagues in job skills as requested by supervisors.
  • Act as a best runner to support the colleagues in the valet laundry team as well as commercial laundry.
  • Report incidents and guest complaints promptly to the superiors.
  • Ensure that daily tasks are executed to the highest standards of valet laundry service.
  • Attend and actively participate in team events, required training sessions, and job-related briefings
  • Effectively communicate and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels. 
  • Be motivated to transfer knowledge and promote a continuously positive work environment.
  • Maintain a consistently professional attitude towards guests and colleagues alike.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work timing and schedule to accommodate operational demands effectively; willing to work extra hours to cover the workload as directed by the team leader.

 

 

3.   EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE  

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality or related field is a plus.
  • Fluent in the local language, spoken & written English, any other foreign language is a plus factor
  • Must be skilled to perform the job of a Laundry Attendant. 
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably within a five-star hotel, luxury property, or commercial laundry/valet service.
