About the role 

 

As an Assistant General Manager at Carbone, you will be assisting the Restaurant General Manager for overseeing the efficient running and profitability of the restaurant’s daily activities. Your responsibilities include training and developing team members, coordinating employees schedule, and ensuring that company standard operating procedures, policies and procedures are being followed and consistently implemented. Finally, you will help minimize operating costs, boost employee’s retention, deliver outstanding guest service and overall customer satisfaction.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a guest-friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest and by maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service
  • Recruit, train, develop, and communicate with all team members and ensure they are knowledgeable on job expectations, as well as assess performance on a regular basis, to include annual performance reviews
  • Implement and maintain guest service standards and/or brand specifications and grows business within the restaurant
  • Responsible for handling guest complaints/comments, and using them for making improvements
  • Maintain all merchandising standards, display presentations and signing standards and monitors inventory levels
  • Drive team members in the areas of new product introductions and promotional programs; help to guide implementation of these items and provide training to team members accordingly
  • Utilize experience to effectively control financials, personnel management, facilities, marketing, food preparation and quality, and general business operations
  • Complete quarterly menu engineering by following the SOP and using the “Menu Engineering Tool”
  • Ensure guest database, feedback, comment card rating and preferences are recorded in the restaurant reservations system and “Guest Comment Card Tool”
  • Prepare projections of future sales and expenses in order to establish realistic yet challenging profit objectives
  • Maintain staffing levels (hiring employees and/or scheduling work hours) through effective planning, which will assure the efficient operation of the restaurant in accordance with company policy
  • Manage conflict and successfully resolve uncomfortable situations with guests, customers, peers, and direct reports
  • Identify potential or existing operational problems and initiates, develops, and implements appropriate solutions and measure results
  • Maintain adherence to all company policies and procedures, as well as health and safety standards established

 

About you 

 

The ideal candidate will have experience within a luxury hotel, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role, previous international experience is also preferred. Team leadership skills and a high level of customer focus and ability to work under pressure, along with a hands-on management style are important aspects of this role.
