The Water Quality, Technician 1 will be assisting the Manager and Assistant Manager with the day-to-day operations of the Water Quality Department, focusing on the cleanliness, presentation, maintenance, and safe operation of swimming pools, water park pools, water features, slides, and rides. Support the planning and coordination of maintenance, cleaning, and operational activities, implementing measures to minimize disruption to guest and resort operations. Oversee Water Quality Technicians and contractors, ensuring all cleaning, maintenance, and project works are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards. Conduct regular inspections to ensure pools, slides, rides, water features, plant rooms, and associated areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and fully operational condition. Provide technical support and assist with problem-solving for escalated issues related to water quality, safety, and operations, while maintaining effective communication and coordination with other departments. Assist with team scheduling, contractor management, project planning, and leave administration to ensure adequate operational coverage, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional guest experience. 

 

About the Role

  • Assist with the preparation of staff rosters, team assignments, work schedules, and safe work practices to ensure the effective cleaning, maintenance, and operation of pools, water attractions, slides, rides, and water features.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance, cleaning, and improvement works to ensure all facilities remain safe, presentable, and operational while supporting the park's daily and future operational requirements.
  • Allocate and utilize team members and contractors effectively to achieve departmental objectives and maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day operational decisions of the Water Quality Department, ensuring activities are aligned with business and operational needs.
  • Oversee the daily cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and readiness of pools, slides, rides, water features, plant rooms, and associated operational areas.
  • Supervise Water Quality Technicians, contractors, and support personnel, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
  • Ensure regular water quality testing and analysis are conducted and that all results comply with health, safety, and operational standards.
  • Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of departmental procedures, operational standards, and maintenance programs.
  • Support training and development initiatives, provide on-the-job coaching, and assist with employee performance reviews.
  • Ensure all operational records, water quality reports, inspections, and maintenance documentation are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company requirements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring equipment, tools, and facilities are properly maintained, inspected, and fit for purpose.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify cleanliness, safety, maintenance, or presentation issues and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Ensure the water park is clean, safe, and fully prepared for the next day's operation, with all attractions, pools, and guest areas meeting established operational and presentation standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with team members and keep management informed of operational issues, safety concerns, project progress, and improvement opportunities. 

 

Technical Requirements

  • Understand instrumentation, its uses and its limitations, and its appropriate/suitable application as it applies to water treatment.
  • Understand and select fit for purpose/appropriate materials to the applied environment.
  • Understand FRP/PVC/HDPE and other typical industry materials. 
  • Have a basic understanding of the use of energy, its consumption and possible efficiency improvements.
  • Be able to read and understand P&IDs, schematic drawings, PFD’s and other basic single-line diagrams.  
  • Understand the concepts of business continuity.
  • Have a basic understanding of and appreciation of swimming pool systems and other display/water features and their non-biological systems.
  • Analyse/understand the need to pay close attention to water quality.
  • Assess the quality of the work provided by contractors both commercially and practically. 

 

About You

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical trade or minimum of 8 years work experience
  • Experienced in coordinating and executing minor projects.
  • Relevant experience in Waterpark Maintenance, Life Support Systems, Water Filtration System maintenance (desirable more than 3 years)
  • Proven diverse skill set in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Fluent communication skills in English in both written and spoken

  • Certified Pool Operator, (desirable – willing to obtain within probationary period)
